Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Nominee for Best Play, this eloquent and enthralling play exposes a difficult moral dilemma as it explores the final hour in the life of a young woman.  It begins with Jessie calmly telling her Mama on a typical night in their ordinary lives that by morning she will be dead.  The subsequent dialogue between Jessie and Mama slowly reveals Jessie’s reasons for her decision, her life with Mama, and how thoroughly she has planned her own demise.  It may offer the reminder that we often fail to have conversations about difficult topics until it is too late, yet leaves theater-goers feeling positive as they come to understand Jessie’s plight.
